Lincoln County Economic Development

Lincoln County is located in the center of the Eastern Plains of Colorado. Covering 2,600 square miles with a population of 5,000, Lincoln County is an area known for its agricultural base of farming and ranching. Lincoln County is an hour and fifteen minute drive from the major metropolian cities of Denver and Colorado Springs.

Commercial investment in the county is growing as a result of the transportation corridors, proximity to metropolitan areas, and the rapidly growing renewable energy industry. The Market Place Development in Limon houses a new Flying J Travel Center; the Cedar Points wind project has been developed by Renewable Energy Systems with construction beginning late Summer; and Genoa Motorsports County Club is being developed at Genoa.

The Regional Learning Center is being developed as a place for academic, trade, and technical training. A skilled workforce is essential to the success of businesses location and retention. The Center will be flexible in design so as to accomodate the changing skill requirements of a global economy. The Regional Learning Center will further Lincoln County's position as a successful place to do business.

Lincoln County is the center point of the Great Plains International Trade Corriodor which connects Laredo, Texas to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Interstate 70, U.S. Highways 287 and 24, Colorado State Highways 71 and 94 are located in Lincoln County. Two rail roads are located in Lincoln County, the Union Pacific and Rail America's KYLE.


There are four incorporated towns located in Lincoln County: Arriba, Genoa, Hugo, and Limon. The unincorporated community of Karval is located in the southern part of the county.
