Lincoln County invests in preschool education to close achievement gaps, better prepare young children for learning, raise graduation rates, and further build a well-educated workforce. The State of Colorado has a broad preschool program. The Colorado Preschool and Kindergarten Program was launched in 1998 to help lower dropout rates, dependence on public assistance and criminal activities. The program currently provides funding to establish early childhood education programs that serve children eligible to enroll in Kindergarten the following year. |

Lincoln County's K-12 school system is made up of four school districts, Arriba-Flagler Consolidated School District, Genoa-Hugo School, Limon Public Schools, and Karval School District. Small class sizes and strong community involvement make a strong educational system for the students of Lincoln County. The Colorado State Board of Education has designed the education system to challenge academic standards. Criteria are in place for suggested grade level expectations and standards by subject areas. Accountability reports are also available for Lincoln County Schools. Colorado requires annual student testing to determine whether students meet established knowledge levels expected for their grade level. Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) results are reported for each school and an established mechanism prescribes the means by which each school can improve its performance.
