The KYLE railoroad is a short line railroad owned by Rail America that runs from North Central Kansas into Lincoln County. Limon is the western terminous of KYLE, and it is there that it interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad. |

Lincoln County is home to Limon, Colorado, which is know as the "Hub City" of Eastern Colorado. Interstate 70, U.S. Highway 24, 40, and 287 and State Highways 71 and 86 all pass through the town. Ports-to-Plains is a Federal High Priority Corridor for freight movement that extends from Laredo, Texas through Limon to Denver. U.S. Highway 287 passes south through Lamar, Colorado, the Oklahoma Panhandle, Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas on it path to the Mexico border. Limon is the point where Ports-to-Plains connects to the Heartland Expressway which extends north through Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota. Heartland Expressway extends north from Limon on Colorado Highway 71 connecting to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Interstate 25 in central Wyoming, the Black Hills and Rapid City, South Dakota. Ports-to-Plains, Heartland Expressway and Theodore Roosevelt Expressway form the backbone on a growing north-south trading relationship that includes the International trade with and through Canada and Mexico. Limon sits at the centerpoint of the Great Plains International Corridor. |
